Credit card processing is big business! You can apply for credit cards from a number of different places but don’t expect to be instantly approved. You may have received a “pre-approved” credit card offer in the mail and they sound pretty good, but what really happens when you apply for a credit card?

Depending on the financial institution issuing the card, approval terms and policies change. The first thing that is considered when you apply for credit card is your employment status and credit bureau report. Credit reporting agencies will help the Card Company decide if you are a good risk. There are special cards for people with bad credit.

To apply for credit cards online simply visit a credit card site and look at different choices such as Visa, Discover, GM, etc. When you apply for credit card online, make sure all spaces are complete or it will delay your application.

Federal law prohibits issuers from randomly sending you a card you didn’t ask for but they are permitted to send you renewal cards without your request. If they call you and get an OK by phone, they are also allowed to send you a card, subject to credit approval. After you apply for credit card and your application is approved, you should have your card within 2 – 3 weeks.
